Following the incredible success of its flagship store in Los Angeles, MidiCi – The Neapolitan Pizza Company, opened its first South Florida location in Fort Lauderdale. They offer high quality, delicious Neapolitan pizzas and inspired Italian dishes crafted in their center-stage kitchen, known as “The Heart”. MidiCi presents Fort Lauderdale residents with an upscale dining location within a casual framework of operation that places customers at the helm of their experience.

It is a unique new addition by CEO Amit Kleinberger (of Menchie’s success and Undercover Boss fame) to the Fort Lauderdale area. Their traditional Neapolitan cuisine and menu items are handmade with high-quality, non-GMO, fresh, all natural ingredients.

“Opening our first location in Fort Lauderdale marks a milestone in our national expansion,” said Amit Kleinberger, CEO and co-founder of MidiCi. He continues, “We are confident that John Davimos will create a lasting bond with the Fort Lauderdale community for years to come.”

MidiCi provides pizza lovers with an upscale dining atmosphere, designed by acclaimed hotel and restaurant architect and designer Sam Marshall, while maintaining the ease and affordability of a casual restaurant concept. The space beckons guests to visit and make memories over a gourmet meal next to a signature indoor tree.

The restaurant is very modern and chic, which makes it perfect for a dinner date or lunch with friends. The minute you walk in the door, you are greeted by the friendly staff, and handed a menu. Diners can select from traditional and signature menu options or create their own personalized Neapolitan pizzas.

They also offer a a nice selection of fresh served salads, which are accompanied by a piece of wood-toasted Neapolitan bread. The Caprese salad was beautifully displayed on the counter looking very temping, but I decided to go with the Neapolitan pizza.

My husband ordered the Fresh Purple Kale Salad, which came with baby spinach, fresh ricotta cheese, dates, parmigiana-reggiano, fresh lemon zest, and topped with a mustard vinaigrette dressing. He really enjoyed the combination of these dynamic flavors.

I like my pizza to be traditional, so I went with the Margherita. I really enjoyed being able to see the pizza dough being made through a glass-walled room that’s kept at a constant 61 degrees. Their Neapolitan Pizza is baked to perfection in 90 seconds in their wood-fired ovens that fire up at 1000 degrees. It’s that temperature change that allows the pizza to reach its perfectly baked form.

Additionally, you can complement your entrees with a freshly brewed cup of coffee from their Athena espresso machine, or tea and soft drinks. If you feel like something a little stronger, you can enjoy a diverse selection of quality local craft beers or a glass of wine from their curated wine list.

Once you order your entree, simply walk over to the cashier and they’ll hand you a number which you place on your table and wait for the waiters to bring you your delicious meal.

While you wait, make sure to take a picture with your friends or family to capture your special moment using the Polaroid cameras by the cashier. You can hang them in their moments antique frame afterwards. I opted to have my photo taken with John Davimos, MidiCi Fort Lauderdale’s owner himself!

One of my favorite elements of this restaurant is the 50 year-old Olea Europasea Olive Tree. Looking at an olive tree while you dine really gives a feeling of serenity, tranquility, which provides a great sense of escape from your everyday humdrum.

You must save room for dessert! They offer Leo Leo Gelato handcrafted in small batches using only premium national ingredients and flavors. Or you can order my favorite, the Signature Nutella Calzone with fresh berries. It’s baked fresh with Nutella, blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, and strawberries hidden inside, and topped with a hint of balsamic reduction, and shaved coconut. Absolutely delicious!

MidiCi is growing all across the country and the world, with over 400 locations awarded and slated to open within the next 6 years. In addition to the Fort Lauderdale location, Davimos has signed on to open three more locations in Boca Raton, Western Broward, and Plantation. He has two more locations in mind already and is working on leases.
